ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – With one of the most successful seasons in the pool behind the Northern Colorado Swim and Dive team, three of UNC's athletes weren't quite done flexing their muscles. Madelyn Moore, Katelyn Bergin and Ali Jackson each competed in last week's ISCA Senior Cup and all walked away with personal bests.
The trio of Bear swimmers competed against some of the most elite competition. The ISCA Senior Cup attracts the very best college, club and professional swimmers around as the world gears up for another Summer Olympic run.
Moore, the Western Athletic Conference Swimmer of the Year, turned heads on the international scene, earning an ISCA Long Course Championship in the 50 back with a lifetime best of 29.48. Moore also took home sixth in the 50 free with a 27.41, sixth in the 50 fly touching the wall at 27.90 and seventh in the 100 free with a second lifetime best of 57.22.
Ali Jackson also impressed in the long course portion of the meet. The Cayman Islands native dialed-up a lifetime best in the 200 free with a 2:11.06, and grabbed 19th place in both the 50 and 100 free with times of 27.50 and 59.08, respectively.
Katelyn Bergin not only tallied a couple of career-bests in the short course, but she also solidified three top-10 swims in UNC history. The butterfly specialist touched seventh in the 200 fly at 2:00.86 to become the third-fastest performer in program history and eighth in the 100 fly with a 54.71, becoming the second-fastest performer. Bergin rounded out her weekend with a 56.43 in the 100 back to snag the eighth-fastest performance amongst all Bears.
