Bears rise in Mid-Major rankings after noteworthy swims at WAC Championships

GREELEY, Colo. – Fresh off matching its best finish in the swimming portion of the WAC Championship, Northern Colorado Swim and Dive has vaulted up the mid-major rankings, appearing at No. 17 this week.

UNC appeared in the top-25 for the first time in program history after winning six duals across three days at Air Force.

Its recent jump to its highest mark in school history at No. 17 comes off the heels of the swimming portion of the WAC Championships. With the diving set to take place in Flagstaff from February 25-27, the Bears currently sit third with 497.5 points.

Throughout four days in St. George, Utah, UNC was downright electric in the pool.

The Bears picked up four gold medals along the way. Junior Madelyn Moore accounted for three of them, hitting the wall first in the 50 free (22.53), 100 free (49.35) and anchoring the dramatic 400 free relay (3:22.47). Moore also broke her record in the 100 back twice in the same night, clocking in at 54.10 during the opening leg of the 400 medley relay.

In total, UNC's week included 39 lifetime bests, 28 top-10 all-time performances, a school record, 23 top-16 performances, 17 top-8 swims, two bronze medals, four silver and four gold.
