Bears and Hornets meet for split series this weekend

GREELEY, Colo. – Head coach Jenny Huth and the Bears get set to clock in the air miles this week, traveling to Sacramento State on Thursday before returning home for another matchup with the Hornets on Saturday.
Saturday also marks the Bears' annual "Pink Game" supporting all those affected by breast cancer.

Opening Tip
Northern Colorado faces Sacramento State for its second split series of the season. The Bears previously split wins with Northern Arizona, winning the front end, 59-54, in Greeley and falling 84-81 in Flagstaff.
Sophomore forward Alisha Davis is coming off her 10th double-double of the season and the 17th of her young career. Davis is averaging 14.6 points and 10.0 rebounds.
The Bears continue to shoot lights out from beyond the arc this season. At 38.3 percent, UNC ranks first in the Big Sky and 13th in the nation.
Jenny Huth's bench poured in 24 points against the Thunderbirds, the most since it scored 26 versus Idaho on January 16.
Mele Finau knocked down three three-pointers against Southern Utah. The sophomore guard had hit three three's twice this season, previously hitting three on January 3, in a 77-76 OT win versus Montana.
Scouting the Hornets
Eighth-year head coach Bunky Harkleroad enters this week with a 1-14 record on the season. The Hornets previously split home and away matchups against Portland State.
The usually high-flying offense is averaging just 66.9 points per game this year, seventh-best in the Big Sky. However, Sacramento State is good for 8.1 made three-pointers per contest, the third-best rate in the conference.
History against Sacramento State
UNC is currently on an eight-game winning streak against the Hornets. Last season, the Bears took down Sacramento State three times, including a win in the Big Sky Tournament. All-time, the Bears are 19-9 versus the Hornets, with an 11-2 mark in Greeley and a 6-7 record on the road.
Against the Conference
The Bears are 6-7 thus far in Big Sky Conference play. Since joining the conference, UNC has 164 wins to just 129 losses.
On This Date
Northern Colorado is 13-15 combined on February 11 and 13. Though, back in 2019, the Bears bested Sacramento State 71-61 en route to an appearance in the WNIT.
What's Ahead?.
UNC gets one week off before it turns back around and heads to the northwest for two games against Portland State. Next Thursday's contest is scheduled for 8 p.m. MT, while next Saturday's is set for 1 p.m. MT.
