David Hoage picked up multiple All-America honors
GREELEY, Colo. – The accolades just keep rolling in for Northern Colorado linebacker David Hoage. The sophomore earned the program's first All-America honors since 2015 appearing on multiple teams and a spot on the NFFCC Team.
Hoage founds his name on the AP, Stat Performance and Hero Sports All-America teams, earning third team for both the AP and Stat Performance. For Hero Sports, he was on the sophomore first team.
Ellis Onic II was the last Bear to be named an All-American. He did so as a returner in 2015.
Hoage was also the only Bear to earn a spot on the National Football Foundation-Colorado Chapter teams earning second team honors.
The Big Sky leader in tackles for a loss, he surprisingly earned second team honors All-Big Sky honors earlier this year. Hoage recorded 22 TFLs on the year to not only lead the Big Sky but also rank third in the NCAA. He also recorded 10.5 sacks to rank fifth in the conference and tied for 11th in FCS football. The 10.5 sacks are the most in UNC's Division I history.
The sophomore was a focus point for all opposing coaches but still made his presence known averaging 6.4 tackles a game ranking 21st in the Big Sky. He also had eight quarterback hurries which were tied for the third-most in the conference.
