UNC men's cross country earns the program's best ranking in USTFCCCA Mountain Region
New Orleans, La- After a historic fifth place finish at the Big Sky Championships last week, Northern Colorado men's Cross-Country team received a 13th place ranking in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association Mountain Region poll, the highest position the program has ever achieved.
The rise is due in large part to the Bears stellar performance at last week's Big Sky Cross Country Championships in Greeley Colorado. In a field of 84 runners in what is arguably one of the top conferences in the nation, four UNC runners finished in the top 39, propelling the Bears to defeat regionally ranked teams from Idaho and Idaho State in head to head competition. NAU won the Big Sky championships.
Senior Stephen Haas led the Bears, while classmates Josh Campbell, Isaiah Remington, Jeremy Romero and sophomore Ryan Lehmuth combined for a tight spread of just over 60 seconds.
The Bears will be back in action on November 15th at the NCAA Regional Championships in Salt Lake City Utah.
