Cables Pub and Grill will host the NCAA Selection Show watch party for the UNC men's golf team
GREELEY, Colo. – The Northern Colorado men's golf team will find out where they are headed next after clinching a berth to the NCAA Tournament by winning the Big Sky Championship on Sunday. The Bears will be making their first appearance in the tournament field that will be announced on Wednesday, May 2 at 3:30 pm MT. Cable's Pub and Grill will host a selection show watch party as the field is announced on The Golf Channel.
UNC's roster features the Big Sky Player of the Year and Big Sky Championship individual champion in Joshua Matz and Andrew Romano. Matz is averaging a 73.10 per round this year to take home the Big Sky Player of the Year honors. Meanwhile, Romano shot an impressive 8-under 208 in the 54 hole tournament, winning the title in a playoff hole over Southern Utah's Fidel Concepcion.
There are six NCAA Regional sites, featuring a combined 81 teams (31 automatic bids to league champions and 45 at-large invites) and 45 individuals not on selected teams, with three rounds of action Mon.-Wed., May 14-16. The top five teams and top individuals not on advancing teams from each regional move on to the NCAA Championship, to be played at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Okla., May 25-30. The sites for the Regionals are: Lonnie Poole Golf Course (Raleigh, N.C.), Traditions Club (Bryan, Texas), Scarlet Course/OSU Golf Course (Columbus, Ohio), Reunion Resort (Kissimmee, Fla.), Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club (Norman, Okla.) and The Reserve at Spanos Park (Stockton, Calif.).
