UNC women's tennis brought in its second student-athlete of its recruiting class in Mana Koitabashi
GREELEY – Northern Colorado women's tennis welcomed its second member of its 2017 recruiting class on Thursday, with the addition of Mana Koitabashi. Koitabashi comes to Greeley from Yokohama, Kanagawa, Japan where she had a very good high school career.
"We are excited to have Mana join our program. She will be a great addition as she is a hard worker both on and off the court," said head coach Brenda Gallegos. "She will help add depth to our program as well as bringing her unique lefty style of play."
Since 2014, Koitabashi has been a semifinalist at least in 14 of the top events both in Japan and in California where she has been competing and attending Weil Tennis Academy and College Prepatory School. She was a finalist in the South Bay Fall Open Tournament this past season for singles play, along with a finalist in doubles play at the ITA Summer Circuit in Fullerton.
Koitabashi will become the fifth international member of the team, and will represent the fourth different country on the roster. She plans on majoring in Business Marketing when at UNC.
The 2017 team is on the verge of clinching a spot in the Big Sky Tournament, with a win one Saturday against Southern Utah they will be in. That match will take place at the Butler-Hancock Tennis Courts with doubles play beginning at 11 am.
