Get to know Ashley Guthrie
GREELEY, Colo. - In this week's addition of get to know UNC volleyball, learn more about Ashley Guthrie.
Why did you choose to come to UNC?
I wanted to play at the Division I level and after meeting the coaches and the team I knew there wasn't a better fit for me than UNC.
Â
My favorite volleyball memory is:
Winning the Big Sky Tournament my sophomore year.
Â
Favorite Place to Vacation?
I love the beach. It's always been my favorite place since I was a child.
Â
What do you want to do after you graduate?
I want to teach Middle School Social Studies and coach volleyball.
Â
Any pregame rituals/superstitions?
I put on all my gear on right leg and then my left leg, and I have to wear the same Hello Kitty ribbon in my hair that I've used since high school. I also like to pray when I step on the court before the game starts.
Â
Craziest food you ever ate?
Calamari, I usually stick to the basics of what I know I like when it comes to food.
Â
Favorite sports team?
I'm a huge Pittsburgh Penguins and Los Angeles Dodgers fan.
Â
Funniest person on the team?
Natalya, hands down.
Â
Favorite part of UNC?
The team - they are the coolest girls you will ever meet. I also love going to other sports games at school.
Â
If I could play any other sport at UNC it would be…
Probably softball or golf. I played both when I was a kid.
Â
Favorite show to watch growing up?
I loved Boy Meets World and Gilmore Girls. I still watch reruns now.
Â
My worst habit is…
Cracking my knuckles and my neck. I do it all the time.
Â
The song no one would believe I have on my iPod:
I love the Tarzan soundtrack - no shame.
Â
Favorite food:
Ice Cream is basically its own food group in my life.
Â
The song I have stuck in my head is…
In Your Arms by Chef'Special
Â
When you go home, where is the first place you go?
In-n-out. Because it's the best and I feel like I have to or else I'm a bad Californian.
Â
Favorite movie?
Singing in the Rain or any of the Marvel superhero movies.
