Quartet of harriers compete at NCAA Mountain Regional
PROVO, Utah – The Northern Colorado men's and women's cross country teams sent four runners to the NCAA Mountain Regionals, hosted by BYU in Provo, Utah.
Freshman Evan Bekes finished 95th overall in the 10-kilometer race with a time of 33:39.3, while sophomore John McCarthy placed 105th in 34:26.1.
In the women's six-kilometer course, freshman Ashley Atkin timed a 24:35.3 to finish 120th and sophomore Nicole O'Dwyer was eight places behind her after crossing the finish line in 25:15.4.
New Mexico and Colorado each scored 84 points in the women's race and junior Risper Kimaiyo from UTEP won the individual title in 20:35.2.
The men's team title went to BYU with 49 points and the Cougars senior Miles Batty timed a 30:09.3 to win the individual crown.
The NCAA Regional concludes the 2011 season for the Northern Colorado cross country teams.
