Volleyball Concludes Team Camp
July 30, 2007
The University of Northern Colorado volleyball team and head coach Lyndsey Benson deserve a well-earned break after the week they just put in.
The Bears hosted its annual team camp, believed to be one of the largest in the nation, July 26-28, hosting volleyball matches at Butler-Hancock, the Recreation Center, Greeley Central High School, Dayspring High School, Family Fun Plex, Frontier Academy High School and Platte Valley Middle School.
There were 122 teams from 73 schools and seven different states represented (Colorado, Wyoming, New Mexico, Nebraska, South Dakota, Montana and Kansas) at the camp and most of the local high schools (Greeley West, Greeley Central, Northridge, Frontier Academy, Eaton, Platte Valley and Windsor) were also in attendance.
Teams of all levels, varsity, junior varsity and freshmen competed in pool play all day Thursday and Friday, along with Saturday morning and then Saturday afternoon competed in a single elimination tournament. Also included in the Classic was a two-hour coaches clinic on Wednesday evening before play began.
