A&M-Corpus Christi Tops Texas-Pan American For Second Time at Independent Tournament

GREELEY, Colo. - Texas A&M-Corpus Christi capped off the season with a 3-2 win over Texas-Pan American on Saturday at the Division I Independent Volleyball Championships.

The win over the Broncs was the second win in the Independent Tournament, both by a 3-2 count.

The Islanders went up 2-0 over Texas-Pan American, taking a 30-12 win in the first game and a 30-22 win in the second. The Broncs rallied to win the next two, 30-22 and 30-28 before A&M-Corpus Christi finished off the match with a 15-11 win.

Machado paced the Islanders once again with 19 kills and finished the tournament with 79 kills over five matches.

Kati Broom had 15 kills, while Carter finished with 11. Broom was the lone Islander on the all-tournament team.

Defensively, Amber Pippen and Carol Marcengo had 22 and 20 digs respectively, while Lauren Carter finished with a match-high six block assists.

The Islanders finished their season with a 14-15 record.
