South Dakota State Spikes North Dakota State, 3-1

GREELEY, Colo. - The South Dakota State Jackrabbits thumped interstate rival North Dakota State 3-1 (30-19, 27-30, 30-24, 30-22) in Division I Independent Championships action on Friday night at the University of Northern Colorado.
With the win, SDSU finshed with a 2-1 record in pool play and moves on to face off against the IPFW Mastadons (3-0 in Pool A) at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday at Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. The winner of that match will move on to the Division I Independent Championship match at 7:30 p.m. later in the day.
SDSU (15-16) dominated the match in the first game, hitting .433. The Jackrabbits took a stumble in the second game however, as they hit just .053. But SDSU was able to neutralize the Bison attack in the third and fourth games. The Jackrabbits were led by Minette Ridenour's 21 kills and Kristie Klusaw's 49 assists.
NDSU's Kelly Lopez tallied 21 kills while Sheila Parrish had 35 assists.
NDSU (3-31) drops to 1-2 in pool play and will take on the Texas-Pan American Broncs (0-3 in pool play) at 8 a.m. on Saturday at the UNC Recreation Center. The winner of the match will play for fifth place at 4 p.m. later in the day at the recreation center.
