GREELEY -- Northern Colorado volleyball didn't return to the NCAA Tournament, but the Bears still have plenty of reason to celebrate a historic 2010 season.

They'll get that chance next month during their annual year-end banquet at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 17, in the University of Northern Colorado Panorama Room at the University Center. The cost of the dinner is $15, and it's open for anyone interested in attending.

RSVPs for the event should be made by Monday, Jan. 10, and be directed to head coach Lyndsey Benson at lyndsey.benson@unco.edu or at 970-351-1719.

The Bears saw their successful 2010 season end in November with a loss to top-seeded Portland State in the final match of the Big Sky Volleyball Championship.

That brought to a close a campaign that featured a school NCAA Division I-record 24 wins, the Bears claiming a share of the Big Sky Conference regular-season title (Portland State) and having four players (Kelley Arnold, Amanda Arterburn, Marissa Hughes and Ashley Lichtenberg) earn notice on the Big Sky's postseason honor teams.

Benson's program will celebrate those achievements and more at its banquet next month.
