GREELEY, Colo. -- Northern Colorado volleyball couldn't have asked for a better place to begin its dance.
The Bears, who advanced to the NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship last night with a 3-1 victory against Portland State in the Big Sky Conference championship game, will face the sixth-seeded Washington Huskies (Pac-10) at 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3, just down the road in Fort Collins, Colo.
Northern Colorado (21-11) learned its championship date during an NCAA Selection Show watch party earlier this afternoon at Old Chicago in Greeley. The national 64-team field was revealed live on ESPNEWS.
Colorado State's Moby Arena has been selected as a site for first- and second-round matches of the national tournament, and the Rams (Mountain West) will play host to the Bears, Huskies (23-5) and Middle Tennessee State (Sun Belt).
Colorado State (23-5) and Middle Tennessee State (25-9) are scheduled to face off at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and the winners of both matches will then meet at 7 p.m. Friday for a chance to head to the regional site in Minneapolis, Minn.
The NCAA Division I Volleyball Championship will culminate Dec. 19 at the national-championship match in Tampa, Fla.
The top 16 teams were seeded nationally and placed within four regions. Washington is the only seeded team coming to Moby Arena.
