Women's tennis grabs fifth place in coaches vote

The University of Northern Colorado women's tennis team was chosen to finish in fifth place this year in a league coaches vote. The men's team was voted to finish eighth in the Big Sky.

The women's team received 35 points for fifth place in the vote. Last season the Bears finished 5-13.Men's tennis, who finished last season with a record of 4-14, received 16 votes for the eighth place position. The Bears have six returning players from the 2006-07 season.

Sacramento State men's and women's teams were both voted into first place with 7 and 8 votes respectively. Last year, both teams clinched the Big Sky title and earned berths to the NCAA tournament.

The Bears will begin action in 2008 with the men playing on Jan. 26 at Denver and the women playing Northern Arizona at home on Feb. 3.
