GREELEY -- Friday's match for Northern Colorado Women's Tennis was one set away from having a perfect ending on Senior Day against North Dakota. The Bears (8-7, 6-2 Big Sky) still created great success while falling in just one match during a 6-1 win over UND (6-10, 3-5 Big Sky).

Friday was Senior Day for three Bears seniors, two of which played in the win. Stephanie Catlin (Basingstoke, England) won both of her matches while Adriana Nieto (Southlake, Texas) was able to grab her doubles match with partner, freshman Courtney Schulte (Austin, Texas). Taylor Schumacher (Austin, Texas) was also honored before the match started.

"Today's win was a great way to finish our homestretch of competition and I am extremely proud of our seniors for their hard work and dedication to our program over the years,"  Head Coach Brenda Vlasak said. "They have set the standard for everyone else to follow."

Nieto was the only Bear to lose on the afternoon, winning her second set to force a third in the No. 1 singles spot. Catlin breezed through her No. 2 match, winning 6-2, 6-1. The final four singles matches were won by UNC in two sets each.

The Bears swept doubles action for the fourth time this season. Catlin and freshman Beth Coton (Bolton, England) held their opponent to three set points, winning 8-3. Junior Chrissie Hoolahan (Richmond, Surrey, England) and freshman Laura Wehner (Richard, New Zealand) pulled out the No. 2 matchup, 8-5. Nieto and Schulte improved their season record together to 7-2 following a shutout 8-0 win in the No. 3 doubles spot.

"The team competed very well today and the energy and effort was there from start to finish," Vlasak said. "We worked extremely hard in our doubles practices this past week and it showed today."

The Bears will play its final three matches of the season on the road in a span of four days. Northern Colorado will first head to Montana on Saturday, April 12 before then going to Montana State the next day. Colorado State will play host to UNC's regular season finale on Tuesday, April 15.
