GREELEY
– The Northern Colorado women's tennis team faced minimal adversity Friday while completing a clean sweep of Metro State at Work Out West. The Bears (6-5, 4-0 Big Sky) were taken to a three-set match just once while winning all other singles and doubles matches in straight sets against the Road Runners (1-9).

Northern Colorado has now won six of its last seven matches in Greeley while falling only to Wichita State. Senior Stephanie Catlin (Basingstoke, England), sophomore Hilary Walters-West (Simi Valley, Calif.) and freshman Laura Wehner (Richmond, New Zealand) continued their hot streaks while all losing just two matches each since Feb. 8.

Catlin, in the No. 1 spot, was the only Bear to go to three sets on the day and was able to pull out the win against 6-3, 5-7, 10-8. Walters-West took the court in the No. 3 spot while securing a win 6-1, 6-4. Wehner, taking part in the No. 4 spot, lost just one point on the day en route to a 6-0, 6-1 win.

All doubles partners lost fewer than two points to the Road Runners. Catlin and freshman Beth Coton (Bolton, England) did not allow a point to be scored on them while winning 6-0 in the No. 1 doubles spot. The duo has now won five matches on the season.

The Bears will hit the road for its first Big Sky matches away from Greeley on March 17 and 19. First, Northern Colorado will play Southern Utah at 10 a.m. followed by a match against Northern Arizona.
