Rain hampers start of Spring Break trip

SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Playing in extremely windy conditions with a rain delay, the Northern Colorado women's tennis team dropped a 7-0 match at Santa Clara to start their Spring Break trip.

The Bears also had their match scheduled for Monday against San Francisco cancelled due to rain. The men's match was also cancelled on Monday.

In the doubles point, junior Jill Kappel and Lexi Filliol at number three forced a tiebreaker, but eventually fell 8-7 (8-6). The Broncos won the other two doubles matches 8-3 at number one and 8-1 at number two.

All six singles matches were decided in straight sets as the Bears struggled in the harsh conditions.

The Bears are scheduled to return to action on Tuesday at San Jose State at 2:00 pm.
