DENVER, Colo. – Late on Saturday evening, the Northern Colorado women’s team dropped a 6-1 decision to Denver at the Pinehurst Country Club. The Bears are now 3-8 on the season, while the Pioneers are now 6-12.

Senior Hannah LaForest won the only point for the Bears, winning a pro-set game 8-6 at number six singles. LaForest, who typically doesn’t play singles, has now won two straight at six singles to even her record at 2-2.

Seniors Tabatha and Tiffany Knop battled tough at number one doubles, before eventually falling 8-6 and the Bears dropped the other two ladder positions 8-1 as Denver won the doubles points.

The Bears lost singles positions one through four in straight sets and since the team score was decided, the final two singles positions played pro-sets with each team winning one.

Northern Colorado returns to Big Sky Conference play at Idaho State and Weber State next weekend. The home season concludes for the Bears on April 10 when North Dakota comes to town.
