GREELEY -- For the sixth straight semester the Northern Colorado swimming and diving team has been recognized as a College Swimming Coaches Association of America Scholar All-America team.
"This is a great accomplishment for the team," Northern Colorado coach Kelly McClanahan said. "They put in a lot of hard work both in the pool and the classroom, and it shows by earning our sixth straight award. I'm proud of everything this team has done and look forward to the tradition continuing."
The AquaBears put together a 3.45 grade-point average for the spring semester, which is tied for the 15th best mark among NCAA Division I swimming & diving programs. It is also the third highest in the WAC, behind Northern Arizona (3.50) and Seattle (3.46).
To be eligible a team must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher. Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) -- the oldest organization of college coaches in America -- is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level.
