GREELEY – The Northern Colorado women's swimming & diving team was recently awarded a place on the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) 2012 Scholar All-America Team.
The Bears were named to the squad after the conclusion of the fall semester as well as the spring semester in 2011, marking the third straight semester the AquaBears have been honored.
"With the combined efforts of the team and our academic advisor, Michael Kallsen, we are on the road to mastering the fine balance both our time in the classroom and our time in the pool and it's nice to see the efforts paying off," said Head Coach Kelly McClanahan.
The team combined for a 3.33 cumulative grade point average. To be eligible a team must have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher.
Founded in 1922, the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) – the oldest organization of college coaches in America -is a professional organization of college swimming and diving coaches dedicated to serving and providing leadership for the advancement of the sport of swimming at the collegiate level.
Northern Colorado recently moved to the WAC for swimming & diving after competing the last two seasons in the MPSF. In 2012, the Bears finished in a tie for eighth place at the MPSF Championships, scoring 179 points.
