Twelve AquaBears honored for academics

WOODLAND, Calif. – Recently, the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation announced the scholar-athletes for the 2011-12 swimming and diving season. The Northern Colorado Swimming & Diving team had 12 student-athletes honored on the team.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be a sophomore academically, must have been at the institution for at least one full year, must have competed in at least 50 percent of the events in the season and must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade point average.

The Bears ended in a tie for eighth-place at their second-ever championship in the MPSF. Three student-athletes were named to the all-conference team and the team has also already been honored this season by the College Swimming Coaches Association as the team achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.
