LOS ANGELES -- The Northern Colorado swimming & diving team faced two tough opponents on Tuesday afternoon in Loyola Marymount and Cal State Bakersfield in the Bears first winter training meet.

Fellow freshman Renee Stephens placed second in the 200 breaststroke after timing a 2:31.15.

The quartet of Kira Alger, Sammy Leonard, Van Oost and JJ Smith also finished second in the 400 freestyle relay after clocking a 3:44.90.

Sophomore Tatum Boehnke swam exactly 11 minutes in the 1000 freestyle to finish third overall, while junior Amanda Donegan was also third, swimming a 5:20.87 in the 500 free.

The AquaBears return to the pool on Friday against San Diego State and then face Tulane at SDSU on Saturday before returning to Greeley.
