Gutt completes academic trifecta
GREELEY, Colo. – Northern Colorado senior swimmer Tori Gutt completed the career trifecta, earning her third-straight Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District honor on Thursday.
Gutt, a recent graduate from Tucson, Ariz., is the sixth Northern Colorado student-athlete to earn All-District honors and her name has been forwarded to the Academic All-American ballot, to be voted on later this month.
She joins soccer players Danielle Birdsall and Katey Borman, men's basketball player Devon Beitzel, women's basketball player Kaisha Brown and baseball player Ben Packard from Northern Colorado as honorees in 2010-11. Birdsall and Beitzel both went on to earn All-American honors.
Gutt concluded her stellar career in the pool in February, earning All-Conference honors in the inaugural season of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in both the 200 breaststroke and 400 IM. She shattered her own school record in the 200 breaststroke during the final day of the MPSF Championship, giving her three school records during the four-day meet. She owns the records in the 100 breast (1:04.70), 200 breast (2:16.17) and 400 IM (4:27.18) and also ranks third in school history in the 200 IM (2:07.78). She is also a member of the record holding 400 medley relay team (3:50.64).
