Bears place 28 on Big Sky's Fall All-Academic Team
OGDEN, Utah -- The Big Sky Conference announced today the 354 members of its 2011 Fall All-Academic teams for football, volleyball, soccer and men's and women's cross country.
In all, Northern Colorado had 28 student-athletes named in Wednesday's announcement, with Tim Barrera's soccer program leading all the Bears' fall teams with 10 all-academic awards. Northern Colorado's football program had eight student-athletes honored, while volleyball had seven, and women's cross country program came in with three.
To be eligible for Big Sky Conference all-academic honors, student-athletes must have met and/or exceeded the following minimum requirements:
- Participated in at least half of his or her team's competitions.
- Achieved a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average on a 4.0 scale at the conclusion of the most recently completed term.
- Completed at least one academic term at his/her current Big Sky institution.
