OGDEN, Utah – The Big Sky Conference announced Tuesday that Ariel Cook was Offensive Player of the Week after a stellar two games at the Air Force Academy Fall Classic.

For the third time this season, the Northern Colorado women’s soccer program has had a player named player of the week in the conference after Danielle Birdsall and Janelle Kramer earned the honors in the same week.

Cook played a big part in helping the Bears win the Air Force Fall Classic, scoring two goals during the weekend. Both goals came in Sunday’s 2-1 win over the Citadel, with the junior forward’s last goal coming in the 88th minute to put the Bears ahead.

With the two goals this week, Cook now leads the Big Sky with four goals on the season. The Gilbert, Ariz. native also picked up an assist in a 4-0 win over Fairleigh Dickinson on Friday.

Sacramento State goalkeeper Savannah Abercrombie was named Defensive Player of the Week in the conference.

Cook and the Bears are in next in action on Friday, Sept. 10 when they travel to Utah to take on the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah.
