Bears goalkeeper Kirsten Salminen named Big Sky Player of the Week

OGDEN, Utah - Sophomore Kirsten Salminen has been named Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Sept. 7th the Big Sky Conference announced on Monday,

Salminen led the Bears to two shutout games at the Holiday Inn Classic hosted by Boise State the first coming on Friday in a 1-0 victory over the Idaho. In goal Salminen tallied up two saves against the Vandals.

In the final game of the tournament Salminen provided Northern Colorado with a scoreless 110 minutes as the game against Boise State went into two overtime periods. In the game which saw the Bears outshot 23-8, Salminen recorded eight saves shutting out the Broncos.

In addition to being named Player of the week Salminen was also named to the Holiday Inn Classic All-Tournament team along with junior Laura Wayland and sophomore Ariel Cook.
