Loss Wraps Up Weekend For Bears Soccer
LOGAN, Utah - Northern Colorado soccer wrapped up a weekend road
trip to Utah today with a loss to Utah State which ended 3-0. The
Bears now fall to 2-4-0 on the season.
Utah State scored its first goal only 14 minutes into the first
half off of a header from Candice Clark. Northern Colorado held the
Aggies at 1-0 going into the second half.
It was one minute into the second half when Utah State extended its
lead to 2-0. Lauren Hansen got the ball past the Bears freshman
goalkeeper Kirsten Salminen from six yards out. The final goal of
the game came at 60:44 off of a corner kick by Lindsey Smart to
Shantel Flanary.
Junior Jessica Zimmerman recorded five shots in the match with 3 on
goal. In goal Salminen recorded 3 saves.
Northern Colorado will return to Jackson stadium next weekend as
the Bears host the Clarion Inn Northern Colorado Classic on Sept.
12 and 14. The Bears will host Oregon State, North Florida and
Rider for the tournament.
