Freshman Kirstin Salminen Named Big Sky Player of the Week

Freshman Kirstin Salminen was named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week after shutting out Wyoming in Northern Colorado's first victory over the Cowgirls.

Salminen started and played in all 180 minutes over the weekend. She also held the San Francisco Dons to just one goal and recorded six saves against Wyoming. This lowered her goals against average to 1.18 on the season.

Salminen has started in goal for the Bears in all four games this season and has been instrumental in the Bears 2-2-0 record. Northern Colorado is currently in second place in the Big Sky.

Salminen and the rest of the Bears now travel to Utah to face Utah Valley on Sept. 4 and Utah State on Sept. 6.
