Wrestling Program Signs Local Prospect

Dec. 12, 2006

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado wrestling program has signed Brandon Kamerzell to a National Letter-of-Intent, head coach Jack Maughan announced Tuesday.

Kamerzell comes to the Bears from Eaton High School, where as a two-time all-conference selection he has increased his performance every season, culminating in a runner-up finish in last year's state tournament in the 160 pound class. Going into his senior season, he held a 94-27 career mark.

"We are excited that Brandon is joining our program," said Maughan. "He is not only a standout wrestler but also a great student and a tough competitor."

Kamerzell has been an Honor Roll student each of his three years at Eaton, and has received an Award of Excellence for his mathematics studies. He is also a member of the Future Farmers of America.

Maughan said that he is excited about Brandon's potential when wrestling for the Bears.

"He comes from a top program at Eaton High School, so he is prepared to make the transition to Division I wrestling, where we hope he will really be able to have a strong impact for us."
