Devan Lewis of Weatherford, Texas, and Chase Walker of Morgan, Utah, each signed National Letters-of-Intent for the Bears' wrestling squad.

"We are pleased with the two signees", Maughan said. "We believe they are excellent additions as we move toward Division I eligibility."

Lewis was a two-time state champion in both freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling. He was a two-time state runner-up at Weatherford High School. Lewis served as team captain as a senior. He was a Texas Dream Team member and holds a 3.50 grade point average. Lewis will initially compete in the 157/165 weight class divisions.

"Devan Lewis is one of the top wrestlers in Texas and we are pleased he is continuing his career at the University of Northern Colorado," Maughan said. "He is an outstanding young man whose best wrestling is yet to come."

Walker was a 2005 NJCAA national champion at Northwest Community College in Powell, Wyo. He posted a record of 29-9 in the 2004-2005 season. Walker was a three-time state high school champion in the state of Utah. Walker tallied a 160-17 record as a prep wrestler. He also earned All-America status as both a junior national (three times) and a cadet national (two times). Walker was a FILA Cadet National Champion. Walker will redshirt in the 2005-2006 season and will have three years of eligibility at the Division I level. He will also compete in the 157/165 weight class divisions.

"Chase is a proven college competitor who is ready for Division I competition," Maughan said. "He has excelled in both the high school and junior college ranks. We are confident he will excel at the Division I level."

The two signings combined with the early signing of Greeley Central's Tony Mustari give the Bears three signings for the 2005-06 season. Maughan indicated he would add at least one more signing this spring.
