UNC Set For NCC Championships In Fargo:
The UNC wrestling squad is set to travel to Fargo, N.D. for the 2003 North Central Conference championships on March 2. The NCC championships will serve as a national qualifying tournament for the NCAA Championships that will be held on March 14-15 in Wheeling, W.Va.

Bears Finish Dual Season With Winning Mark:
UNC completed the dual season with a 7-6 record after a 19-19 criteria win over Fort Hays State last Monday. UNC's last winning dual season came in the 1996-97 season, when the Bears went 9-8 overall.

Maughan Closes In On Victory No. 100:
UNC head coach Jack Maughan is closing in on his 100th career victory. Maughan has tallied 97 career wins in his 16 years as the Bears' head coach.

Olson Climbs UNC All-Time Win Chart:
UNC senior Brody Olson (157 lbs.) earned his 98th career win last Monday night with a 7-5 decision over Fort Hays State's Brandon Jobe. Olson is 26-9 this season and has a career record of 98-51. Olson is now tied with Scott Gates for third on the Bears' all-time win list. Mike Leberknight holds the record with 126 wins and Chris Nelson is second with 110 victories.

Bears Jump Up To 7th In National Poll:
The UNC wrestling squad jumped six spots to No. 7 in the latest NCAA Division II Coaches' Poll. The Bears began the season ranked No. 13 in the nation and have now regained that spot. Central Oklahoma has regained the top spot and they are followed by North Dakota State, Nebraska-Omaha, Nebraska-Kearney, Pittsburgh-Johnstown and San Francisco State. The North Central Conference has six of the top 14 schools in the nation.

Bears In The Individual Rankings:
Senior Brody Olson (157 lbs.) and junior Jason McMillan (197 lbs.) are the highest-rated UNC wrestlers in the latest Division II rankings. Both wrestlers are ranked No. 4 in their respective weight classes. Junior Loren Hutchins has moved into the rankings at 149 lbs. and is ranked No. 5 in the nation.

Bears Claim Colorado Collegiates Team Title:
The Bears won the team title at the Colorado Collegiates on Jan. 25. UNC edged out second-place Air Force to win the team championship. It is the fifth time UNC has won the Colorado Collegiates. The Bears have won the team title in 1991, 1992, 1993, 1998 and 2003.

Next Week:
UNC's national qualifiers will be off to Wheeling, W.Va. on March 14-15 to take part in the NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships.
