Bears Crown Two Champs at Nebraska-Kearney Runza Loper Open
The University of Northern Colorado wrestling squad crowned a pair of champions at the 2003 University of Nebraska-Kearney Runza Loper Open on Saturday in Kearney, Neb.
Jared Deaguero (174 lbs.) and Tanner Linsacum (184 lbs.) captured individual titles in their respective weight classes.
Deaguero scored a 1-0 victory over fellow UNC Bear Shawn Hart in the championship match at 174 pounds. Linsacum scored a 7-3 win over Nebraska-Omaha's Nate Oviatt in the 184-pound bracket.
The Bears' Loren Hutchins also captured second place at the 149-pound weight bracket. Hutchins suffered a 6-3 setback to Chadron State's Jared Webster in the title match.
The Bears' Tyler Haner tallied the most pins in the shortest amount of time in the tourney to take home that award. Haner notched two pins in the consolation bracket to take the honor. Haner pinned Clinton Dale of Dana College in 1:16 and then stuck Dale's teammate Shawn Tsutsumi at 1:35.
