Wrestlers Drop WWC Dual to North Dakota State

FARGO, N.D. - No. 14 Kenny Hashimoto, Devan Lewis, Shawn Vincent and Reece Hopkin each picked up victories, but the University of Northern Colorado wrestling team dropped a Western Wrestling Conference match to North Dakota State University, 23-14, Friday night.

At 141, Hashimoto (18-2, 8-1) picked up his eighth consecutive dual-meet victory with a 7-5 decision. He hasn't lost a match since December 1, and is undefeated in WWC duals.

Lewis picked up a 7-2 victory at 165 and two matches later at 184, Vincent scored a shutout major decision, 10-0.

Hopkin closed out the match quickly, notching a pin just 33 seconds into his heavyweight bout.

With the loss, Bears head coach Jack Maughan falls to 1-19-1 against his father Bucky, head coach of the Bison.

The Bears will head south for a dual with South Dakota State Saturday at 2 p.m.
