Wrestling Falls 38-6 To No. 11 Nebraska

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado wrestling team fell 38-6 to 11th-ranked Nebraska at Butler-Hancock Wednesday evening.

 

Northern Colorado scored the first six points of the dual on a forfeit at 133-pounds, but was not able to win any other weight classes.

 

Senior heavyweight Reece Hopkin, ranked 19th in the most recent NWCA poll, came the closest, leading throughout the bout until #20 Jon May recorded a takedown with 0:46 left to secure the 7-6 victory.

 

Nebraska had nationally ranked wrestlers in eight of the nine divisions, with the lone exception being at 141-pounds, where Patrick Aleksanyan defeated NC's senior Richard Lohr, 6-1.

 

The Bears open Western Wrestling Conference action on Saturday against South Dakota State at Butler-Hancock. Last year the Bears trailed the Jackrabbits 15-3 before winning the final four bouts to win 23-15 in Brookings, S.D.
