Wrestling Announces Addition of Two
GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent in the sport of wrestling. Both Matthew Foxworthy and Tito Pica will begin classes next week.
Matthew Foxworthy, projected heavyweight, Port Orchard, Wash. (South Kitsap HS)
Foxworthy lettered three times in both wrestling and football for the Wolves. As a senior, he posted a 37-1 record with 30 pins, finishing as the Washington state runner-up. In his junior season, he finished third in the state and had an overall record of 33-5. He also earned all-conference honors as a tight end.
Wilberto Pica III, projected 174 pounds, Concord, Calif. (De la Salle HS)
Pica lettered all four years in wrestling and also earned two in football and one in lacrosse. Was a three-time champion in both sectionals and conference, placing all four years at both. He also placed twice at state and qualified all four seasons. Has competed in both Greco Roman and freestyle wrestling, winning five triple crown titles and received the Contra Costa Times top five athletes of the year award. In football, was the starting running back, averaging just under 100 yards per game.
Foxworthy and Pica join Ray Hall as 2008 signees, as Hall signed during the early period.
