Mustari Earns At-Large Berth
GREELEY, Colo. - The NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee announced Wednesday its 52 at-large qualifiers for the NCAA Championship in St. Louis beginning March 19 and Northern Colorado junior Tony Mustari was one of the 52 to receive the berth.
Mustari finished second at the NCAA West Regional behind Wyoming's Michael Martinez. This is the third straight year Mustari will compete at the NCAA Championship. He enters with a 24-8 record and joins freshman Mitchell Polkowske (149 pounds) and sophomore Justin Gaethje (157 pounds) at the championships.
The at-large selections were made by the NCAA Division I Wrestling Committee using the selection criteria without priority order, which consists of head-to-head competition, qualifying event placement, quality wins, results against common opponents, winning percentage, rating percentage index, coaches ranking and number of matches contested at that weight class.
The NCAA Championship begins March 19, 2009 at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo. Session I begins at 11:00 a.m.
