CHANDLER, Ariz. -- Northern Colorado's women’s golf team finished tied for 14th Tuesday at Wyoming's Cowgirl Classic at Ocotillo Golf Club.

The Bears finished play tied with the South Dakota State Jackrabbits with a team score of 952 (+88).  Texas-El Paso took the team title, and Stephanie Kim of Northern Arizona took the individual title.

Northern Colorado will return to the Ocotillo from Monday to Wednesday, April 19 to 21, for the final event of their season -- the Big Sky Conference Championship.

"This was a great event with 23 teams that included eight out of the nine Big Sky teams,” Northern Colorado coach Brandon White said, “We will play the same course for our conference championship, so it gives us a good preview of where we stand within the conference"

Individually, Chelsea Silvers finished best for the Bears, tied for 25th with a combined score of 229 (+13) for three rounds in the 120-player field. Silvers' sister, Carleigh, finished tied for 59th with a three-round score of 238 (+22).

"Chelsea had a very consistent tournament and a top-25 finish," White said. "We are going to need all five players shooting scores like that in the (Big Sky) championship to have a chance to win. They all have the ability, it will just be a matter of them all coming together at the same time"

Junior Emily Dougherty was the third best finisher for the Bears with a three-round score of 245 (+29) leaving her finished in a tie for 86th. Rounding out the field for Northern Colorado was Hannah McNeley and Ali Nelson, who came in 89th and 91st respectively.

"We were a little disappointed with our overall effort finishing fourth of eight Big Sky teams, so we need to work hard the next 10 days before we head back for the championship,” White said.
