Women's Tennis To Dual Texas State On Saturday

GREELEY, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's tennis team will take back to the courts at 2 p.m. on Saturday against Texas State at the Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs.

The Bears (1-3 in duals) are competing in their first dual in three weeks. Northern Colorado last competed against Air Force on Jan. 29 at the Academy, with the Bears coming out on the short end of a 7-0 match. Northern Colorado also had a 6-1 loss to Northern Arizona on Jan. 28 and a 7-0 win over South Dakota State on Jan. 27.

Texas State is 0-4 in duals this season, with notable losses to No. 34-ranked Texas A&M and 66th-ranked Southern Methodist. The Bobcats are led by Lainy Chafitz, who is 2-2 overall.

Sophomore Karen Groll leads the Bears with a 3-2 dual record and has a 4-9 overall record this season.

Northern Colorado went 0-1 in duals last season against teams from Texas, with a 7-0 loss to UTEP on April 9 in Greeley.
