Complete 2012-13 Schedule
By HEATHER KENNEDY
GREELEY – Now entering her seventh year as head coach at Northern Colorado for the women’s basketball team, Jaime White understands that smart non-conference scheduling can lead to success in the Big Sky Conference and that’s what she hopes she’s done with the 2012-13 schedule.
White has the in-state rivals stacked early in November, starting the year against Air Force on the 9th. The team, which returns 10 letterwinners off last year’s second-place team, then turns its attention to Colorado State on the 13th and the Bears close out the month at Denver on the 29th, with a trip to Utah and San Diego sandwiched in between.
“I think our veteran team will welcome the challenge of this year’s schedule,” White said. “They should be ready to go straight out of the gates.”
The beginning of December marks the team’s second home game in former North Central Conference rival North Dakota State on the 2nd before the final two road non-conference games in Wichita State (Dec. 7) and Texas Tech (Dec. 16).
“We are excited about this year’s schedule,” White continued. “I believe it will test us early with the trips to Texas Tech and Utah. Those in turn will set the tone for a demanding Big Sky schedule.”
The Big Sky slate starts on Dec. 22 when the Bears host newcomer North Dakota to Butler-Hancock. The other new team in the conference, Southern Utah, comes to town on Feb. 23, which has been tabbed as Alumnae Day.
The final non-conference tilt of the season also is the final game of the 2012 calendar year as Johnson & Wales comes to town on Dec. 30.
Season tickets for women’s basketball go on sale on Sept. 4 and the prices remain unchanged from a year ago. Adult season tickets are $80, while youth, senior and faculty/staff tickets are $55. A courtside chair may be purchased for $150, while courtside tables are $650.
The women’s basketball team, which played in the 2012 WNIT, has 13 home games this season and tickets can be purchased either online at www.unco.edu/tickets or by calling the Northern Colorado ticket office at 970.351.4849.
