Bears Quick Notes
• Sophomore guard D'shara Strange was named the College Sports Madness Big Sky Player of the Week, giving the Bears the honor in two-straight weeks as senior forward Kaisha Brown was honored a week ago.
• Head Coach Jaime White recently took over third on the list of coaching wins at Northern Colorado and is quickly approaching second. White has 69 wins, while Gary Schwartz (1992-97) is second with 75 victories.
• The men's and women's basketball teams will be playing in their only doubleheader of the season on Saturday as both teams host Northern Arizona in the conference openers for both schools.
• The Bears are guaranteed a winning non-conference season for the second time in three years. The team is 7-5 entering its final non-league game on Thursday against Black Hills State, who the Bears will be meeting for the second time (2009).
• The Bears need to score over 60 points. They are 6-0 when scoring 61 and just 1-5 when putting up 60 or fewer.
• Northern Colorado was picked to finish second in the Big Sky standings by the media and third by the coaches in the preseason polls.
• Northern Colorado is 482-524 all-time in women's basketball history and is 64-69 since becoming post-season eligible for Division I in 2007-08.
