260.18, behind Shayna Solomon's total of 261.90. Schmeckpepper-Cook
also placed second in the one-meter with a score of 263.03, posting
a career-best score.
"I couldn't be more proud of the girls," said Head Coach Kelly
McClanahan. "CSU is a tough team and we really got up and raced
against them. The girls tend to get a little intimidated when they
see Colorado State and they didn't do that tonight and it showed.
"JJ Smith completely came out of nowhere to lead us in the
sprints, along with Dawn Adams and it was great to see. I'm very
proud of the job they're doing. Brogan Beyette was only 10 seconds
off her best time in the mile, which she swam last year at the
conference championship at sea level and this is the first time all
season we've swam the mile."
Beyette finished fourth in the 1650 freestyle with her time of
18:30.44.
"We raced tonight; it was a good home meet," continued
McClanahan. "They performed for the home crowd and it was standing
room only, which is a good atmosphere. The girls are getting fast
every single weekend. They're headed in the right direction and
getting prepared for the conference championship."
The Bears at Northern Iowa against the Panthers and South Dakota
State on Saturday, Nov. 14. The next home meet is Dec. 5 against
Wyoming.
