Soccer Tops Weber State

GREELEY -- The final home game of Northern
Colorado's women's soccer regular season ended with a win for the
Bears', who overtook Weber State 2-1 Sunday at Jackson Field.
Weber State was undefeated in the Big Sky coming into the match,
but Northern Colorado emerged with a victory and moved to 2-2-0 in
the Big Sky.
Sophomore Brittani Knott put the Bears on the board first with a
header off of a pass from sophomore Olivia Deadmond in the 28th
minute.
Then, one minute later, junior Marcie Johnson passed the ball
across the box to senior Jessica Zimmerman, who powered the ball
past the goalkeeper to put Northern Colorado up 2-0 at 29:14.
The score remained 2-0 heading into the second half and stayed
that way until Weber State's Abby Robinson beat the defenders to
get an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.
Northern Colorado freshman goalkeeper Kirsten Salminen recorded
nine saves in the match, which raised her weekend saves total to
12.
Next up for the Bears is a pair of road games -- first to
Montana on Oct. 24 and then to Eastern Washington on Oct. 26.
