Northern Colorado senior golfer Jenny Henderson shot a five-over par 149 (75-74) to win the Kenneth Smith Golf Classic in Lee's Summit, Mo., over the last two days. She also helped lead the Bears to the team title, as NC shot a 609 (307-302) to win the tournament by seven strokes.

Henderson was tied for second place after the first 18 holes, but shot a second round 74 to take over the lead and win the tournament by two strokes over Carrie Riordan of Eastern Illinois and Olivia Lansing of Drake. For her efforts, Henderson was named the Big Sky Golfer of the Week for the second time this season and the third time in her two-year career in the league.

Shayna Godfrey finished fourth overall after firing rounds of 80 and 72 for a 152 total and eight over par. Her second round of 72 was the tournament low. Katie Avery (74-80) and Regina Rodriguez (78-76) finished right behind Godfrey in a tie for fifth place after shooting 154 and Avery's round of 74 from the first day was the low score of the day. Heather Daviner finished the tournament in a tie for 31st place after shooting a 166 (85-81).

The Bears finished ahead of Eastern Illinois (626), South Dakota State (631), Drake (633), Creighton (638), Western Illinois (651), Truman State (657), host UMKC (661), Rockhurst (683) and Missouri Western (736). This is the first team title for Northern Colorado since the UNK Spring Invitational in 2005.

Northern Colorado will next compete in the Troy Intercollegiate in Montgomery, Ala. on Oct. 29-30.
