Women's Golfers Eighth After Day One of Huskie Classic

HUNTLEY, Ill. - The University of Northern Colorado women's golf team had a combined round of 323 and are in eighth place after day one of the 22nd Annual Huskie Classic hosted by Northern Illinois University and held at Whisper Creek Golf Club.

The Bears play was led by junior Jenny Henderson who had a round of 78 and is at +6, which was good for 16th place. Junior Regina Rodriguez and senior Kelley Newton are three strokes behind Henderson in 28th place (+9) while Shayna Godfrey is 33rd (+11) and Heather Daviner 39th (+12).

Southern Illinois' Josie Lowder is the overall leader at even par, one stroke ahead of a trio of golfers.

As a team the Bears are tied with Loyola University and just six strokes out of fifth place overall.

Bradley had a combined round of 301 on Sunday and is two strokes ahead of Northern Illinois and four strokes ahead of SIU.

Final round play begins with a 9 a.m. CT shotgun start on Monday morning.
