HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's golf team is in 15th place after day one of the Ron Moore Intercollegiate hosted by the University of Denver and being held at the Highlands Ranch Golf Club.

The Bears had rounds of 315 and 314 and is at +53 after 36 holes. The Bears are currently ahead of Big Sky Conference foe Northern Arizona by eight strokes.

The host Pioneers are the team leader, using their home course familiarity to their advantage. DU is at -12 after two rounds, which is 22 strokes better than second place Missouri.

Individually, senior Kelley Newton is 52nd overall with a score of 156 (+12). She is one stroke ahead of sophomore Heather Daviner and two strokes ahead of Jenny Henderson and Regina Rodriguez. Shayna Godfrey is 75th overall at +19.

Arkansas Little Rock's Sara Wilkstrom, BYU's Rachel Newren and Denver's Emily Hoeper are in a three-way tie for first place at 139 (-5).

The final round will start with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday morning.
