FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The University of Northern Colorado women's golf team kicked off its 2006-07 season on Monday by competing in the Ptarmigan Ram Fall Classic hosted by Colorado State. The Bears are in 16th place midway through the second round, which was postponed due to darkness. The Bears combined for a team score of 328 in the first round. Colorado is the overall leader, combining for a first round score of 286. The field has a real Big Sky Conference flavor, as five other BSC schools are competing in the event. Eastern Washington is sixth, Montana is 11th, Montana State is 12th, Portland State is 13th and Weber State is 17th. Individually, redshirt junior Regina Rodriguez is 63rd overall after a first round score of 81. Rodriguez is in her first competition with the Bears after redshirting last season after transferring from Colorado. Kelley Newton and Jenny Henderson are tied for 68th, Shayna Godfrey is 70th and Heather Daviner is 75th.
