GOODYEAR, Ariz. - Kelly Newton fired a +4 round of 76 to grab a share of 12th place and lead the University of Northern Colorado women's golf team in the first day of play at the Montana State Bobcat Classic, held at Palm Valley Golf Course in Arizona.

Newton shot matching 38's to lead the Bears, who sit at 13th overall with a total of 319, 18 strokes behind tournament-leader Cal Poly. Regina Rodriguez is two strokes behind Newton, at 80 (T-47), followed by Jenny Henderson at 81 (T-53), Heather Daviner at 82 (T-63) and Matti Nelson at 89 (100).
