Cox Earns First-Team All-Conference Honors Northern Colorado senior guard Whitley Cox was honored today by the Big Sky Conference coaches for her stellar final season by being named First-Team All-Conference on Monday evening. March 6, 2010 Season Ends Saturday With Loss To Montana With the entire team wearing the thick white headbands that Northern Colorado womens basketball fans have come to associate with senior guard Whitley Cox, the Bears lost a thriller in the season finale to Montana, 63-60. March 5, 2010 Bears Use Free Throws To Hang On For Win For the second-game in a row, the opponent came out frantic in the second half, but this time the Northern Colorado womens basketball team responded late and held on for the win, defeating Montana State 70-68. March 2, 2010 Women's Hoops To Host Final Two Games Of Season The final two games of the season for the Bears take place this weekend as they host Montana State on Thursday and Montana on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and senior night will take place Saturday. February 27, 2010 Frantic Second Half Lifts Hornets Past Bears' Womens Hoops A frantic second half lifted the Sacramento State womens basketball team past Northern Colorado on Saturday evening in Butler-Hancock. The Bears (13-15, 5-9) watched an 18-point first-half lead disappear as the fast-paced offense of the Hornets (14-13, 9-5) scored 63 second-half points and edged the home team, 93-89. February 24, 2010 Women's Basketball Starts Final Three At Home With Hornets The Bears play their final three games of the regular season in front of their home fans, hosting Sacramento State on Saturday and then Montana State and Montana next weekend. All three games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. starts. February 20, 2010 Bears Make A Splash At Portland State A dare by a coach before the game turned into a party at the conclusion as the Northern Colorado womens basketball team won a thriller at Portland State on Saturday evening, 56-54. Senior guard Whitley Cox hit her second last-second game winner of the year, nailing a baseline jumper with 1.1 seconds remaining for the victory. February 19, 2010 Women's Basketball Comeback Falls Short The Northern Colorado womens basketball team could never quite crawl out of the hole at Eastern Washington on Friday evening, playing from behind the entire game against the Big Sky Conference leading Eagles and eventually falling 63-52. February 18, 2010 Women's Basketball Takes Last Road Trip The Bears embark upon their final road trip of the 2009-10 regular season when they play at Eastern Washington on Friday and Portland State on Saturday. Earlier this year, the team split with the two teams at home. February 13, 2010 Women's Basketball Keeps Postseason Hopes Alive With Win Over Weber State With the regular season coming quickly to a close and the Northern Colorado womens basketball team currently on the outside looking in at the Big Sky Conference Tournament, every game seems like a must-win. Saturday night against Weber State the Bears took care of their home court at the free throw line, winning 75-68 on Pink Zone night. February 11, 2010 Women's Basketball Stumbles Against Idaho State A hot second half lifted Idaho State to a win over the Northern Colorado womens basketball team in Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion on Thursday evening. The teams were tied at halftime, 27-27, but the Bears struggled shooting after the break, while the Bengals hit half their shots and won 62-51. February 9, 2010 Women's Basketball Ready To Play In Front Of Home Fans After playing five games on the road over a span of 26 days, the team finally returns to Butler-Hancock to host Idaho State on Thursday and Weber State on Saturday. Both games are scheduled for 7:05 p.m. and Saturday will be the Pink Zone game. February 6, 2010 Balanced Attack Leads WBB To Big Sky Road Victory The location may have been different, but the score was identical as the Northern Colorado womens basketball team picked up its first road victory in Big Sky Conference play of the year with a 66-56 victory at Northern Arizona on Saturday evening. February 3, 2010 Cox Buzzer Beater Gives Bears State Bragging Rights Northern Colorado senior guard Whitley Cox hit a buzzer-beater in the middle of the lane to score a career-best 32 points and give the womens basketball team bragging rights in the state as the best team, lifting the Bears to a 74-72 win at Denver on Wednesday night. January 30, 2010 Change Of Venue Hurts WBB Shooting The change of venue midgame did nothing for the Northern Colorado womens basketball team against Montana State on Saturday evening. The contest started at 7:05 in Worthington Arena, but less than five minutes later at the first media timeout and with 15:37 on the clock the officials noticed a drip from the ceiling onto the floor and the game was moved to Shroyer Gym where play resumed an hour and 15 minutes later. January 29, 2010 First Half Strength Can't Sustain WBB in Missoula Northern Colorado battled tough in the first half, but the Montana womens basketball team used two big scoring runs to open the second half and defeat the Bears 65-54 on Friday evening. January 21, 2010 Stoermer Records First Triple-Double In Division I History Despite getting the first triple-double since the University of Northern Colorado went Division I, the Bears' womens basketball team couldnt pick up its first-ever win in Sacramento on Thursday night, falling 72-60 at the Hornets Nest. January 20, 2010 Women's Basketball Readies For Five Straight On The Road Northern Colorado starts a five-game road trip at Sacramento State on Thursday. The Bears do not play at home again until Feb. 11 when they host Idaho State and will go 26 days between home contests. January 16, 2010 Women's Basketball Falls Just Short In Bid For Second-Straight Upset The Bears were oh so close to knocking off their second-straight undefeated team on Saturday evening, falling 51-49 to Eastern Washington in Butler-Hancock Sports Pavilion. The Bears (8-7, 1-1 Big Sky) had 19 turnovers and shot just .500 (10-20) from the free throw line, struggling through the press defense of the Wildcats (7-9, 1-2 Big Sky), especially in the second half. Those 19 turnovers turned into 22 points for Weber State.
