Big Sky and Great West Conferences Announce Academic Honors Both the Big Sky and Great West Conferences recently announced their spring All-Academic teams and the University of Northern Colorado had a total of 32 student-athletes honored in the two leagues. June 3, 2010 Callahan Completes The Trifecta Northern Colorado distance runner Kellie Callahan was named to the ESPN The Magazine District VII All-Academic Track & Field Second Team for the third straight year, the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) announced on Thursday. May 26, 2010 Four Bears Qualify For NCAA Preliminary Round In the reformatted NCAA Track & Field Championship, the University of Northern Colorado team had four student-athletes qualify for the NCAA West Preliminary Round. May 5, 2010 Big Sky Conference Announces Winter All-Academic Team The Big Sky Conference has announced the members of the 2009-10 Winter All-Academic teams for men's and women's basketball and men's and women's indoor track and field. In the four sports, the University of Northern Colorado had 24 student-athletes honored. May 1, 2010 Split Squads Yield Good Results For the second time this year, the Northern Colorado track & field team split with the distance runners heading to Irvine, Calif., to take place in the Steve Scott Invitational, while the rest of the team headed to Fort Collins for the annual Front Range Classic. April 24, 2010 Five New Big Sky Marks Recorded By Tracksters Five new Big Sky qualifying marks highlighted Northern Colorado track & fields Saturday at the Jack Christiansen Invitational. The mens team finished third with 83.5 points, while the women scored 83 points for third. April 22, 2010 Northern Colorado's track program signs Fort Collins star Kevin Galbraith, Northern Colorados head track and field coach, announced Thursday that Fort Collins prep star Rikka LaBere will be joining his program in the fall. LaBere, a senior at nearby Fossil Ridge High School, will look to help replace some of the Bears graduating athletes. April 17, 2010 Track And Field Splits Squads Over Weekend The Northern Colorado track & field team had a smaller team compete in Pueblo on Saturday afternoon. Both the mens and womens teams scored 46 points to finish in sixth place. Several others were in Walnut, Calif., for the prestigious Mt. SAC Relays. April 10, 2010 Sprinters Continue To Shine For Bears Track & Field Four more Northern Colorado track & field student-athletes added their names to the Big Sky Conference qualifying list on Saturday at the Colorado Invitational, while several others improved their standing on the descending order lists as they competed in the non-scoring meet. April 3, 2010 Track & Field Continues To Show Power In Sprints In its only home meet of the season, the Northern Colorado track & field teams showed its power in the sprints as the men had the top collegiate times in the 100, 200, 400 and 4x400 and the women had the winners in the 200 and 4x400 and two in the top three of the 400. April 2, 2010 Benich Schedule Altered With the large number of entries for the Tom Benich Classic on Saturday, the time scheduled has been changed to accomodate the number of heats needed. March 26, 2010 Track Season Pushed Back One More Day - And Further South Due to heavy snow in the Golden area, the track and field meet scheduled for Saturday at Colorado School of Mines has been moved to Sunday at Colorado State-Pueblo. February 27, 2010 Three More Records Fall As Big Sky Indoor Championship Concludes The Northern Colorado mens track & field team finish in eighth place with 30 points, while the women placed ninth with 22 points at the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championship though the Bears had four earn all-conference honors and three school records went by the wayside. February 26, 2010 Four Records Fall During First Day At Big Sky Championships Four school records fell during the first day of the Big Sky Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships for the Northern Colorado squads. The womens 5000, mens weight throw, womens 55 hurdles and mens 400 meter records were all broken on Friday. February 25, 2010 Track & Field Heads To Bozeman For Big Sky Championship The Northern Colorado track and field teams are headed to Bozeman, Montana to compete in the Big Sky Conference Championships beginning on Friday. The competition will run through Saturday with events taking place all day. February 13, 2010 Women Seventh; Men 10th In Biggest Fields Of Season At the second and final day of the Air Force Invitational, the Northern Colorado womens track & field team scored 35 points to finish in seventh place, while the men tallied 22 points for 10th place. BYU won both the titles with 150 and 89 points, respectively. February 12, 2010 Harriers Post Good Marks In Day One At Air Force On the first day of the two-day Air Force Invitational, the Northern Colorado track & field teams posted several strong performances to advance to the finals of events on Saturday. January 30, 2010 Two Records Fall; One Tied As Track & Field Competes At Don Barrett Duals With a small squad, the team dual scores might be slightly misleading, but the Northern Colorado track & field teams posted great individual performances at the Don Barrett Duals hosted by the Air Force Falcons on Saturday. January 23, 2010 Another Record Falls In Second Meet of Season In the second week of competition, another school record falls for the Northern Colorado track & field team as senior Patrick Berg wins the weight throw with a record toss of 56-1.25 at the Potts Invitational. January 15, 2010 Hoerner Breaks School Record In Season-Opening Meet Junior Tyler Hoerner broke the school 400 meter record at the Air Force All Comers Meet to kick off the 2010 indoor season for Northern Colorado. January 6, 2010 Track & Field Picked Eighth By Big Sky Coaches In a recently announced vote by the Big Sky Conference coaches, the Northern Colorado indoor track & field teams have been picked to finish eighth at the conference championship meet Feb. 26-27 at the Brick Breeden Fieldhouse in Bozeman, Mont. |
